I spent a year in Munich, Germany. Living close to the area where Octoberfest is usually held, I used to take walks in the vast open area. One day, there was a smaller fair and a pop-up car show that people came to see. The vastness of the plaza, the fair, the gothic church on the horizon, and the local and foreign people blended for me into a melange of U.S. and German nostalgia.
